About

Ian was raised in the area of West Texas and Eastern New Mexico. He earned his degree online from American Intercontinental University while working on a help desk call center for an mid-sized ISP before being promoted to Sr. Server Engineer. After several years he decided to take a less stressful job working in the Agriculture sector doing programming and database administration. While working in Ag he also developed a mastery of GIS and spatial data analysis.

Highlights
  • Rebuilt existing databases using MySQL, PHP, Javascript for handeling all aspects of day to day operations for 2 national orgs.
  • Created several web based solutions, including a crop insurance application for quick optimization and comparison of products for clients.
  • Extensive work with GIS and mapping using open and closed source solutions. Working with NASA satellite scans of crop cover, and utilizing data to extract important tactical data for targeted marketing.

Sr. Server Engineer
Worked with sales reps and customers to develop customized IT solutions. Setup and maintained all internal and customer facing databases and frontend services including DNS, DHCP, Email, and Hosting for 60,000+ users.
Highlights
  • Maintain network monitoring service for over 200 nodes collecting traffic usage for interfaces on various equipment including Cisco, Adtran, Calix, Foundry and Brocade.
  • Overhaul entire server farm using XenServer to implement virtual servers in Lubbock and New Orleans with 4 physical servers at each location utilizing NetApp NFS as storage repository.
  • Built several custom solutions to overcome manageability issues with Adtran TA500 network gear.
  • Develop multiple WebUI’s to assist help-desk with customer look-up and service management.
  • Implement Minerva video distribution server for video channel package management and distribution to end-users.
